Tim has more than 40 years of international management experience in the life sciences industry in both public and private companies. Tim joined Abingworth in 2005 as a Partner before becoming Chairman and Managing Partner. During his time at Abingworth Tim has taken Chair and board roles in a number of companies, including; Astex, Fovea, GammaDelta Therapeutics, MEDIAN Technologies, HBI, PowderMed, Sientra, Stanmore, Scorpion, Venatorx, Adaptate Biotherapeutics and Antares. Prior to joining Abingworth he was the start-up Chief Executive of Abingworth’s portfolio company, Astex Therapeutics, and was instrumental in establishing it as one of the leading UK biotechnology companies which was acquired by Otsuka Pharmaceuticals and has 3 important blockbuster medicines approved by FDA, including Kisqali. Previously, Tim was Chief Executive of two divisions of the publicly-listed medical technology company, Datascope Corp. Prior to Datascope, he held a number of other senior management positions in the US and Europe, including CEO of Thackray Inc and General Manager Baxter UK.
Tim has a BSc from Exeter University and an MBA from INSEAD. He is on the Investment Advisory Board of Oxford University Innovation and is a former Director of the BIA, the BVCA Venture Committee and sat on the Wellcome Trust / NHS Health Innovation Challenge Fund.
