Abingworth Approach
Long-Term
Abingworth seeks long-term involvement with its investments and has the resources to participate in several rounds of financing. The company takes an open and active role in guiding the development of portfolio firms, usually taking a seat on the board.
Understanding
Many of the entrepreneurs approaching us have not been through the venture process. To help those seeking to raise venture capital for the first time, and in the interests of clear communication and transparency, we have developed an Entrepreneurs’ Fact Sheet to cover many of the issues and questions that regularly arise.
Supportive
Our objective is to be supportive. Where necessary we help to find executives with the right experience to help build a successful business. Aside from its role on the board, Abingworth will provide technical and managerial support as required. This can include assistance with recruitment, preparation of a business plan, finding premises or putting together a syndicate of investors. We will also help with M&A, exits and IPOs, including input on drafting documentation and presentations.

Edwin Moses, CEO of Ablynx
I have worked with Abingworth for several years in a number of their portfolio companies. They are absolutely consistent in their enthusiastic and knowledgeable support and commitment. Most impressively, they have differentiated themselves dramatically from other investors by being able to provide their companies with in-house access to a wide variety of critical specialist expertise in the areas of entrepreneurial management, technical, legal, human resources, M&A and finance. Abingworth is far more than a provider of cash just looking for a return. It is a partner with integrity focussed on growing genuine value in developing biotechnology companies.
